That time Jeff Francoeur thought his teammate was deaf for a whole month

Veteran outfielder Jeff Francoeur made the Atlanta Braves Opening Day roster over a decade after he first burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2005. Through his first two and a half seasons, Francoeur looked like he was going to be a star outfielder for the Braves for years to come with a cannon arm in right field and back-to-back 100+ RBI seasons in 2006 and 2007.

Unfortunately, Francoeur completely fell apart in 2008 and was a New York Met by 2009. Having bounced around the majors with five different teams since, Francoeur was never able to repeat the success that he had in the early part of his career.

While all of this is interesting, it offers nothing in comparison to one of the all-time great baseball pranks played on “Frenchy” while he was in the minors with the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas in 2014.

Jeff Francoeur will forever go down as the guy who thought his absolutely not deaf teammate was completely deaf for a entire month!
