Let’s Remember a Classic NBA Playoff Moment – Rex Chapman

Rex Chapman has run into some trouble during his post-NBA career which tends to happen when you steal $14k worth of merchandise from an Apple Store on at least seven different occasions.

Before that, the former Kentucky star drained one of the most spectacular shots in NBA Playoff history in a 1997 series between the Phoenix Suns and Seattle SuperSonics. The SuperSonics (RIP) were primed to even up the series with the Suns in Game 4 as an errant inbound pass with four seconds left sailed across the court.

Enter Rex Chapman who heaved a prayer over Hersey Hawkins from the corner to send it to OT. Phoenix would go on to lose the game and the deciding Game 5 to be eliminated from the playoffs. It’s still one of my favorite shots of all-time.

Here’s to the Rex Chapman shot. Kevin Harlan puts it best,”Welcome to the Playoffs!”
